Adaptation Futures Conference 2025

The 8th international Adaptation Futures Conference (AF2025) will be held in Ōtautahi Christchurch, New Zealand from 13 to 16 October 2025. It is co-hosted by WASP and the University of Canterbury Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha with regional Oceania and international partners.

Adaptation Futures is the flagship event of the United Nations World Adaptation Science Programme (WASP). This premier international climate change adaptation conference brings together practitioners, policymakers, researchers and academics from across the world to network, collaborate, learn and inspire.

The UNEP-World Adaptation Science Programme side-event at the climate COP29 features a technical presentation on the key findings of the policy brief on science and policy gaps for effective measures to avert, minimize and address loss and damage.

The World Adaptation Science Programme (WASP) Secretariat is delighted to open the call for proposals to host the ninth Adaptation Futures international conference, to take place during a week in the period September-November 2027.

COP28 UAE - United Nations Climate Change Conference

The 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was held at Expo City, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), between the 30th of November and the 14th of December 2023. The World Adaptation Science Programme was involved in several side events, including at the UNEP, EU, and WMO-IPCC Pavilions.
